Our Team

Gina Schley

Gina is one of the first farmer-florist to launch the concept of a Flower CSA, inspired by the many vegetable CSA’s seen in the regenerative agriculture movement. She is a CSU Certified Master Gardener, DUG Master Community Gardener, and a certified aromatherapist through the School of Aromatic Studies. She launched SHEGROWS in 2018 to grow community through the cultivation of flowers.

She is the founder of Rose Roots Community Garden in Arvada, the largest community garden in the State of Colorado. She is an alumni of Floret’s Flower Farming Workshop and was highlighted in their Small Plot Big Impact E-Book. She can be seen on multiple news stations sharing her gardening knowledge, has online courses, and her and her husband can be seen hosting the award winning PBS and Create TV docuseries called Urban Conversion.

Alex montoya

Alex has magic in her fingertips and can grow anything from seed. You’ll find her in the greenhouse most of winter, and in the flower fields throughout the summer making sure everything is planted, healthy, and blooming on schedule. When she’s not at the farm, she’s growing her own cut flowers in her urban backyard, being a new boy mom, bird watching, or drawing birds.

sara pappas

Sara makes numbers look beautiful. You’ll find Sara behind emails and sales tax, and keeping the administrative part of the farm organized throughout the year. She’s an avid gardener growing lisianthus from seed, designs flowers with her 3 year old in her backyard, children’s book author, and world traveler. Sara keeps our team smiling and is often caught smelling the roses.

Francisco Gastelum

Francisco can build, dig, plant, or move anything in warp speed. He helps keep the farm running smoothly and is known for pulling things out of the compost pile to take home to plant, and also picks a bouquet to take home each week. When Francisco is not at the farm, he’s a landscaper by trade and also loves cooking and eating fish.

Jenni sanchez

Jenni is a floral designer who can turn a twig into an artful arrangement and a certified aromatherapist with a developed nose. She’s our songbird in the garden by morning, and designer of flowers or soap by afternoon. When she’s not at the farm, she’s setting up flowers for weddings, thrifting flower books, attending concerts, cooking, gardening, and spending time with her children.

SARAH JOHNSON

Sarah’s smile helps the flowers grow as much as it helps the people who come through our retreats, workshops, and apprenticeship program feel seen. She is the force behind a perfectly rolled hose, a bilingual conversation, and laughter from every corner of the garden. When she’s not at the farm, she’s riding her horses and ushering in a new chapter of womanhood with two teeanager’s and a husband at home.

Rodman Schley

Rodman’s not normally quiet, yet on the farm he is. He quietly leads with support and ideas—lending a hand when irrigation goes array, keeping the grass mowed and trimmed, and believing in the mission of the farm. He’s funny and gentle, and his support has no end. When he’s not appraising commercial real estate, he’s eager to give tours and hand out soap like its hot cakes.
